Two truths He wants you to know

I was having a conversation with a dear friend the other day about an awkward interaction she had had with someone. They used to be close, but certain circumstances (at no fault of my friend) have caused them to drift apart. After their conversation my friend confided I just worry about what she thinks of me.

Lately, I have become increasingly aware of attacks made on me by the Enemy. Yes, if we believe wholeheartedly in the Good within this world that is Christ Jesus, we must also acknowledge that there are evil forces at work as well.

The Enemy has many tactics that he uses against me, and to be honest he’s not usually very original because I’m very predictable. Throw a wrench in my plans and all my lessons on grace and patience fly out the window (just reference this post right here.)

But the number one attack Satan uses on me is morphing others opinions of me within my own mind. When I walk into a room full of people, I will assume that they don’t like me before I assume that they do. If I look over and see a group of women whispering and looking my way, why they must be gossiping about me. And you can forget those “getting to know you” games from college. Ugh, just the thought makes me sick.

I hate to look back on all of the opportunities that Satan stole from me because I have lived with this insecurity for most of my life. And that confession from my friend tells me that I must not be the only one that falls for one of the Enemy’s oldest tricks.

2 Timothy 1:7 “God did not give us a Spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power and of love and of a well-balanced mind.”

There are two truths that He wants you to take away from our time together right now:

  1. Don’t assume you know what any other person thinks about you
  2. If someone does think something negative about you, measure their opinion against the truth of God’s word

Friend, if you are living right in the eyes of the Lord, then anyone else’s opinion of you has no bearing on who He has made you to be. Who are we here to please? Each day we are here is meant to bring us closer to Heaven while bringing as many people with us as we can. So, rather than assume the worst of others, assume the best. Even if that small voice whispers inside but what if they don’t like me, you can be sure that the Spirit of God has gone before you and is working through you in all things. I pray not to worry what others think of me, and instead think on what He knows of me. So let’s build relationships, speak life, offer grace and feel secure in our Savior’s love. Be brave friend, be brave.

What is Satan’s number one attack in your life? What is something that he does that gets you every time? Write it down and tell him, not today! And feel free to share & prayer.

  1. I believe that everyone that knows you thinks highly of you. You are a very special person, not just because you are my granddaughter. In observance of you I see a smart, loving, caring, Christain woman, wonderful wife and mother with a good head on her shoulders. You are blessed with great beauty inside and outside.
I do believe we all worry about what others think about us, I am guilty of that. We should only worry that we show Christ in our life to others and be The light God wants us to be.
