L.I.V.E. Simply Part Four: Eternal Perspective

You don’t know how terrifying the idea of sharing these devotions with the world is. Even though I know this is much bigger than me and I am just the vessel, I still have fear. Isn’t it just like a human to be able to rattle off all of these beautiful revelations yet turn around and be afraid?

As I was reaching out to a dear friend telling her about my hesitations, the song “Fear is a Liar” by Zack Williams came on my music app. And what’s funny is I don’t usually even listen to music in the house, but for some reason tonight I did. And I felt God whisper “Why stop trusting Me now?” Chills. He has brought me so far and gifted me with so much that it would be a shame for me to hide behind my fears. My human nature that is concerned with only now. Now will pass away, and my fears, people’s perceptions of me, my hesitation won’t have made a difference at all in the view of eternity.

Everything we do has eternal consequences. Every action and reaction, every word and deed can be measured by the impact it has on those around us. What I wear, the house I live in, the car I drive has no bearing on where I will spend my eternity. But sharing these words, drawing myself and others closer to God is an action that goes beyond the now and these efforts will never pass away.

Galatians 6:10 “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.”

When we take on an eternal perspective, we take on God’s vision. We see people as God sees them, we consider their struggles and assume the best in them rather than the worst. We are kind, we are loving, and we are grace filled. Because that’s what Jesus is to us. And in Him is where I want to spend my eternity.
